WORKS OF THE COMPETITION

PRELIMINARY ROUNDS

At the end of the preliminary rounds, 18 candidates will be selected for the semi-finals. Candidates will present themselves in the established order of attendance, before the International Jury. All the candidates have to take part in these rounds.

Each candidate will present two works:

- 1 compulsory work with piano, specially written for the competition. This work must be performed in its entirety, which the candidates must play at the beginning of their programme:

* Duel de Capricare by Henri Pousseur - Ed. Suvini-Zerboni - MKT - Via Corsica, 305 - I-25125 Brescia (BS) - suvini.zerboni@sugarmusic.com. It is imperative for a candidate choosing to interpret this work to be accompanied by a private pianist. The number of movements interpreted is left to the choice of the candidate taking into account the time available for them to complete their round.

SEMI FINALS

The purpose of the semi-finals is to select 6 finalists. Candidates will present themselves in the order of attendance fixed by the ballot (see 30), before the International Jury. All selected candidates have to take part in the semi-finals.

Each candidate will present 3 works:

- 1 compulsory work with piano, specially written for the competition. This work must be performed in its entirety, which the candidates must play at the beginning of their programme:

- a personally selected work for solo saxophone. No other external technical device will be permitted (sound tapes, amplification, other instruments, etc.).For this work, candidates may not include a work of their own composition.

FINAL ROUND

Each of the six finalists who has performed to the final will be entitled to claim the title of "Prizewinner of the 4 th International Adolphe Sax Competition". The finals will determine the order of merit of the six candidates.

The final round includes the performance of the following works:

1. a compulsory work, specially written for this Competition, to be performed with orchestra; the finalist will play the compulsory work first. That work will be sent to the candidates two months before the date of the Competition.

2. a concerto to be performed with orchestra and to be chosen by the candidates in the list hereunder:

The duration of the final performance must not under any circumstances exceed 40 minutes. The performance can be interrupted at any time by the President of the Jury without causing any prejudice to the performance of the candidate.
